Brasil / Cabo Verde
Arapucagongon is a duo formed by Jhon Douglas (BR) and Henrique Silva (CV), who have been based in Lisbon for over a decade. The project builds sonic bridges between the Amazon and Cape Verdean rhythms, blending organic electronics, tradition, and improvisation, resulting in an energetic and immersive sound.
Henrique Silva is a multi-instrumentalist and producer, also leading the projects Acácia Maior and Landa, where he explores intersections between African and contemporary music. Jhon Douglas, an Amazonian artist, develops a solo project with which he has participated in major festivals across Portugal, combining music and performance.
In the first half of this year, the duo held an artistic residency at Musicbox, in Lisbon, featuring special guests such as Scúru Fitchádu, Cachupa Psicadélica, Fogo Fogo, and Mayra Andrade, deepening collaborations and musical experimentation.
