World Music
Ayom are musical navigators who cross the Black Atlantic, from Angola to Brazil, with a special Mediterranean identity. The name Ayom makes reference and reverence to the “God of Music” who, in Candomblé mythology, is the entity that lives inside the drum and that taught humanity to play and sing. Combining and mixing languages and rhythms of black lusophone cultures, Ayom offers a spiritual and energetic journey through the African diaspora. Musicality flourishes nomadic, profound, provocative and dancing, where tradition and contamination, masculine and feminine, poetry and energy, joy and engagement coexist. Ayom is a multicultural band formed by 6 members from Angola, Brazil, Greece and Italy with the singer and percussionist Jabu Morales leading. Jabu Morales: voice and percussion // Alberto Becucci: accordion // Timoteo Grignani: percussions // Walter Martins: percussions // Ricardo Quinteira: guitar // Francesco Valente: bass
