Founded in late 2014, Palankalama is a project of instrumental music featuring four musicians from Porto with a diversified activity in different creative territories - jazz, Portuguese traditional music, sound design, film and theater soundtracks, visual arts. Its compositions are based on the free citation, association and reapropriation of several musical languages and styles (such as jazz, klezmer, Portuguese popular music, celtic folk, rock, among others), aiming to create sound landscapes and scenarios of a cinematic atmosphere. The music of Palankalama may be perceived as the soundtrack for a fake documentary about an imaginary territory inhabited by a fictitious community of beings neither quite human nor exactly extraterrestrial - let's say, of men with telepathic powers - devoted to the preservation of the memory of all music in the world.
